New Demon Wrestling Website Up and Running

This is the last entry on this website, because the NEW Demon wrestling site is up and running at http://www.demonwrestling.org

Gradually, all of the pictures that are on this site will be transferred into photo galleries on the new site, along with things like the Mat Report, upcoming schedules, and other stuff. Go take a look and bookmark the new site. I'll be glad to take comments and suggestions for improvements. Expect changes, because the new site has a lot more flexibility than this one and there's lots of room for improvement.

Computer problems have kept me from posting the final pictures from the state tournament, but they should be up within the next couple of days. Jamal did an outstanding job and has gained valuable experience for next season. Expect more Demons to compete at State next year.

Hard Fought Quarterfinal Loss for Jamal

A hard-fought nailbiter of a wrestling match ended in Jamal's first loss in the State Tournament. The two wrestlers were very evenly matched, despite the Pine Hill wrestler's 41-1 record.

The first period found Jamal on the defensive, as the Pine Hill wrestler came out very aggressively.

Jamal fought back and just missed on several scoring opportunities.

The two wrestlers fought down to the wire, neither willing to give. This attempted toss by Pine Hill was foiled when Jamal locked up his head and left heel.

Jamal is still in contention for a medal. His next bout will be tomorrow morning. Wrestling starts at 9:00 in the Joel Coliseum. Come on out and show your support.

Early in the 2d period, Jamal totally surprised his opponent and the crowd by capitalizing on a momentary opening to throw his opponent and pin him. The match had been very even until that point. Great move, Jamal!

Regional Photos to Follow

I have more photos of the regional tournament to put up, but I am, for some reason, tired. Therefore, I am going to leave things as they are tonight. Coach A. will get a CD Monday with all the new photos. He will talk with the yearbook folks to see if some of the better ones can still be used.

Reynolds Qualifies Four in 1st Round of Regional (Updated)

Four wrestlers from Reynolds' young team made it through a tough opening round at the Regional wrestling tournament tonight at Northwest Guilford HS. Jamal, seeded number 2 in his weight class, drew a bye and will wrestle tomorrow morning. Jack also drew a bye and will wrestle in the quarter-final. Josh and Christian each beat their opponents in hard-fought matches to advance to the quarter finals.

The other Reynolds wrestlers made a good showing against some really tough opponents. All in all, it was a good night of wrestling. Tomorrow's first match starts at 9:30. Come on out if you can make it.

I have a few more shots from tonight's action and will get some more tomorrow. Be sure to check back.
